Anthony Lopez a.k.a «Anton» (born in 1995) is an emerging visual artist currently working in Bordeaux, France. Anton graduated with a degree in painting from La Cambre in Brussels in 2018. He also attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Idyllwild Academy of Arts in California. His works have been included in solo and group exhibitions in Europe and the United States and are in private collections in Europe, Asia, and North America.

The notion of space and the relationship between an individual and his environment is one of the most recurrent themes in Anton’s work. The moment characters are added within a painting or drawing, they are imprisoned in a limited world. Indeed, whether on canvas, paper or glass, these unidentifiable characters live trapped in an alternative universe limited by the dimensions and composition of the work. The relationship between an individual and their environment is further represented through the warped physique of the figures and the chaotic energy of the landscape. By creating strange and unrecognizable human figures with emotionless faces and placing them within abstract and chaotic landscapes, the characters blend or contrast with their universes. This gives the viewer freedom of interpretation and invites them to join in, to identify and imagine the world of the work. These images visualize a constant questioning of the Who and its purpose in a world that is constantly evolving. All these characters lost in their own universe are a reflection of our place in this world.
